Hey guys just wondering if there are any welders out there that are experienced in aluminium plate boat welding? I was looking at plate boat kits and was thinking about welding one up myself just wanted any information before I jump in at the deep end cheers
Never welded up a boat before but i have built & repaired plenty more, building the hull is the cheapest bit probably 15% of the total cost if its a sailing yacht.
Hey keith thanks for the reply yeah I know if you can build the hull yourself it would save plenty of money, more money for other goodies haha and i am pretty confident in my welding abilities the boat I was looking at is cnc cut you get it all in a flat packk for roughly 10 grand now thats not to bad and all you have to do is weld it up simple right ha yeah just wanted to know if anyone has done this or things I should look out for
No not them never heard of them its from cnc marine who have a naval architect desingn there boats and they are cut on a cnc machine and sent in a flat pack ready for welding
Here he is http://www.bruce-roberts.com.au/ guys a dick, bought his book years ago, with a similar view to yourself, so many dangerous errors, he didn't like being corrected on his errors!
