Something like Autoglym super resin polish

Just check its not a cutting polish, its been years since I cleaned and polished the inner wings and door shuts on a car

ive got some of that, but it’s at home

Autoglym is my go to stuff

Oh God! I've got that on the garage shelf AND a tin of Mansion House furniture wax. And a tin of bluebell. And behind that was a bottle of Topps furniture scratch restorer and a bottle of Decosol upholstery cleaner I found two tins of Vim cleaning powder and some talcum powder (don't ask) too. Time for a clear out maybe.

That tin is from when Stirling was a boy
Think they call Vim Barkeeps friend now, Have a bottle of Topps scratch cover polish as well, we used to use Brazil nuts to get rid of scratches on the old TV radio cabinets

Top to bottom:

Pitted chrome (after tinfoil + water) - if your car has reached that stage there is no hope.

Dull chrome, general purpose shining.

Overheated chrome, mainly here for amusement as I don’t think you drive that fast.

None of these make the trim on my 2006 VW look like new, not sure what is wrong with them.

Yes I use The Kosovan Car Wash but these days I seriously doubt their EE origin.......they are usually of African appearance and look ready to run off at any moment......like an antelope when it sees a Lion.

You can still buy Vim. I don't find BKF to be so aggressive.

I’ve tried biggest, toothpaste, spit, and some cleaner, nothing touches the marks

this is the issue

I’ve just been to Halfords and the chump there suggested T cut, after a few words he then suggested a clay bar kit

This looks promising but I have no experience and a tad nervous

what do you folk suggest?

Buy a Land Rover, you will never see the marks as it will always be at the dealers being repaired

I’d be tempted to give that a go with the tinfoil and warm water treatment. Try an inconspicuous area first (if there are any) and use the cheap thin stuff. Fold up into a little square or scrunch it into a ball, rub. Not heard of clay bar.

Before spending money on a clay bar just try a lump of Blue Tac and a weak soap mix for lubricant. Keep rubbing over the area until feel smooth.
AG Super Resin is a polish so will work at cleaning it up and it’s not as aggressive as T Cut

What did your mate send you? I've used Farecla G3 paste gently to good effect.
