plastic gears

does anyone know somewhere decent that sell plastic gears of various sizes, no of teeth, pitch etc.

I have a small uni project that i have to start planning, not a massive budget and haven't the tooling to make my own gears.

not sure what sizes i need yet, but can probably alter the design (or speed of motor) to accommodate what i can get hold of.

they don't have to be plastic, but weight might be an issue if they are steel etc. ally would work just as well

cheers fella, didn't think to look at it from an electronics point of view. they wont have to do anything except make a small jig rotate, and make an arm lift and lower.

basically i am basing my project on an induction hardener i occasionally run in work. the project is to design and create something automated, so i am making a small arm and turn table to replace the operator who is currently taking one part form the first op, then placing it on the second op. my design will eliminate the need to remove the part from each station and move it, and eliminate the need for 4-5 operators running 4-5 hardeners, and bring that down to one setter to monitor the robots. its never actually going to be put into use, the company i work for have no idea i am doing a degree. but they are being a brilliant source for what can be improved and used as projects

i need vat receipts for everything i buy so keen to avoid ebay, a lot of the smaller stuff like this i have bought in the past didn't come with any paperwork at all just items in a bit of bubble wrap

Thats true and if its a buisness they will be VAT registred.

BB you have to ask the seller for a VAT slip on ebay,some just send it in the payment invoice.

Part of my degree deals with business principles so when we do stuff like this we keep all receipts and vat info etc. Its one of the open uni pathways so various people are taking various routes, I plan on being my own boss until the end so thought a but of business knowledge would come in handy

So far its been quite interesting but now is tapering off and down to keeping books and various tax issues for different business types, corporation tax, vat thresholds etc

Another option would be the rc car gears - they're pretty cheap and bearings easy to match. Glad you got it sorted.

Cheers for all the info, I hadn't thought to look in the obvious places lol.

Got plenty for the project now but am interested in making an rc car so always good to know where to look
