Hello everyone, new to the forum, I come in search of a tip off for feed mechanism repair.
I own a Sealey spool gun which works reasonably well; I've been using it on a pair of truck batteries to good effect.
But by not tightening the spool brake/spring, and having the feed roller too tight I managed to knot the wire around the spool and jam it.
Unfortunately two of the little plastic gears stripped. I learnt my lesson (or so I thought).
Sealey have the whole motor and feed unit available as a spare, and I had to go for that.
So my spool gun works again.
To save batteries I borrowed a friend's cheapo DIY shop MIG welder, with a sick tip.
The wire jammed and when I opened it up I found to my horror the same feed unit with its plastic gears and toy car motor as in my spool gun.
And the gears are stripped.
I can get his going by cannibalising mine, but does anyone know where I could get hold of those silly little plastic gears, or even brass ones the same size?
I don't particularly want to have to buy a whole unit again.
Many thanks in advance.
Luke
