Just to be clear, this is the second of the two 'Mikes' that were mentioned at the start of this thread - the technical one!. He is based up in Lincolnshire, and on the couple of occasions that I met him, I thought he was a thoroughly decent bloke!

Guess it's maybe time to ease off and wait for the body of evidence to accumulate on this company.

Jugs will let us know how he fares and I'll report any future dealings as I'm sure will others on here.

Hopefully, like Weldequip, they will become a trusted source of equipment and expertise as time goes by. (My only gripe is that I didn't download the info from their site quick enough so will have to wait till they go live again.)

Welcome & thanks for posting re plasma repairs ,
a few yrs ago I bought a Rehmann Plasma LG40 with a 2yr guarantee on flee bay, it worked fine for a few mths limited use then a fault developed but Rehmann had disappeared & couldn't find any one to fix, so an expensive doorstop.

Like most I'm on limited funds (the reason I got a low cost one) so had to put several jobs on waiting list. Since your post, I've made contact & they got back fast , looks like they can fix it for £50 .

I will keep y'all updated.

I can understand malc/woz being a bit careful with posts from a new member, we've had a few trying it on in the past . Once we know a member is genuine we pass & accepted all sorts of info. malc & mods do a good job in keeping this site a brill resource. (end of advertorial )

I had a very positive experience, after a long technical phone call with Mike, I was able to fix the problem myself, it continues to work well.

I passed the contact onto several others, who were all delighted with the service they received.

With all the thieves & charlatans out there , we should be recommending all those who give us good service not just a favored few.

Just an update on this.
About a year ago I bought a Cut40 plasma from this company and seeing as I'm reasonably local I made arrangements to collect it.

Called round and Mike had it all ready, plugged in and a test piece waiting just to show me it was all working.

No problems and it worked flawless then and has continued to do so to date.

We discussed the Chinese 200 amp AC?DC welders and Mike showed me some of the common faults with them, I was interested because I bought one of these from Corbel Welding. The first one lasted 3 days and went pop, finally got a replacement off them and it's worked fine up present and has done some serious work.
It welds far better than the Transtig 200 I also have.

It did frighten me though that if it went wrong it would probably cost more to repair than replace. However after meeting Mike and seeing all the extended testing facilities that he has built up, load meters etc I can sleep easier.

This isn't a spam post for Mike and crew but a genuine post to say thank you to two people who I feel have been slighted.
I don't post on here much but I'm well known on a lot of other forums and do not hide behind any non de plume, John_S is because I get fed up of typing John Stevenson.

I don't remember if his name was Mike Howard, but it was definitely Mike summat! Just google Plasmapart and get their number. You won't go far wrong dealing with them...

Below are the details of a top quality repairer for Plasma Cutters...especially the Cut40 Series. I was one of those cheapskates who bought a Giant Cut40 off ebay on the hope it was working...guess what...it wasn't. Now the thought of having a useless piece of rubbish sat in my garage with no one else to blame but myself really really got my goat..Endless Google searches etc and a previous thread from this forum got me the details of the following..

All i have is praise for this company. The owner Mike Howard is the most approachable bloke you could ever wish to talk to. Now Mike informed me the Cut40 series are manufactured by several different Chinese companies and branded under different names...but in essence are the same models with the same inherent issues when they go wrong. I spoke to Mike on the Friday, a courier collected my machine on the following Monday and it was repaired and returned to me by the Friday. Now that is what I call fantastic service at a very good price ( It would be unfair of me to say what the repair cost was as yours may be a different fault...but lets just say it was cheap and well worth the money.)

Hope this helps someone get their Plasma working again.

its nice that there are decent folks out there that are willing to help people out with there meager buys from fleabay, for some people thats all they can afford and they have to make do and mend.................in this life you get what you pay for..................if you want a ferrari dont buy a skoda and expect it to kick ass
