plasma cnc z axis moves below 0

I done the z0.5 then a z10.0 move down towards the table both amounts.

It seems there was some frustration on the other forum as to the lack of information given by yourself.

You need to tell us the results of the tests we suggest, not just tell us what test you did.

not overly familiar with mach 3
but used to use a lot of g code, is slowly coming back.
with a router, milling etc, you have a tool file with off sets for tool length and dimensions etc.

Well assuming you mean 0.5mm

But the heights should be the height above the work piece.

i.e. Z0.5 should place the tip of the plasma nozzle 0.5mm above the work piece, Z10 should place the plasma nozzle 10mm above the work piece the larger the Z nuber the farther away you are from the work piece.

On plasa there is no length of tool as such there is no drill or mill cutter.

The codes on gcode are not distances from location, they are coordinates.

I need to know how far from your zero position z0.5 gets you. It should get you 0.5mm away.

Let me know your home position, the height from the workpiece when cutting, the height when moving, and your federate.

I'll generate you a circle or something here, and you can run that. As I say, the code I use has a lot less extra stuff in it, so will be a good test.

True, but Z is still height on a Plasma cutter.

If switching the Z direction in Mach3 set-up solves the issue then all is good.

the post processor must be inserting something as G43 H1 is one of the tool off set commands.
