probably true like back posture, slouching can be comfortable but not good in the long run

I have suffered with it and police mans heel over the years it was hell working on the doors with it, walking round all night, and getting trod on also carrying people etc, I tried the official soft insoles etc etc but in the end made my own and cut some thick hard carpet to the shape of the inside off my shoes BUT where the pain point was I completely cut out that section, so that the bad part of my heel was hanging in the air as such, was a little weird at first but soon got used to it, that sorted it quite quickly for me, I found if there was ANY pressure on the bad part it inflamed it and kept it from repairing. Total rest was not an option for me so the way I looked at it, rest the bit that hurts----- totally.
Stretching your Achilles tendon helps relieve the pain AND relieve the condition, also I made a boot out of thick plastic material lined with foam held on my foot/leg with velcro etc and it had flat section bungies pulling and stretching my tendon, I wore it around the house watching tv and in bed to help support and stretch the tendon.

I found the bungies work best, rather than the gentle pull of the made boots, coz the bungies REALLY pulled on the tendon it was a bit painfull/ achey at first but daft as it may seem, strangely comforting because the pain was somewhere else !! I have massive calf muscles and they need stretching out because all day they are pulling in and get used to being short, hence the pain in the morning , pulling them out also helps stop cramps.

Thats an awesome price for something like that...usually aids like that cost a fortune.

That is why I made my own, I think, back then if you could get them they where about £80.
I just thought about the problem and how my body felt and thought I need to stretch the calf out to help stop the pain and bingo.It was only afterwards I found you could buy them

FOUND IT!! the foam went at the back of my calf the bit at the bottom went under my heel with my foot in a leather beach sandal then all held around my leg and to the sandal with velcro then the bungy went to the strap on the front of the sandal then back to the other hole

The Doctor sent me for some Phisio
The exercises seem to help

I found the physio **** compared to my 'boot' it works whilst you are asleep. the problem is it is a little like cramp the more it hurts the more your muscles contract the more the pain etc etc etc.

Get some heat on it as well I find helps. Mine always seems to get worse when feet get colder.

but yes I do and they are also very numb in the morning

I had plantar fasciitis so badly I couldn't walk for a week, self induced by starting running on a treadmill by doing 5k rather than a gentle start!

NSAID etc didn't work. Biomechanical assessment by a podiatrist reminded me I have flat feet. My toes were permanently clenched into the ground to try to get me standing straight.

Stretching every day started it getting better but some asics gt2000 trainers which have about 3 degree pronation in the sole, and some fitflop shoes which have funny unstable insoles completely cured it in days. Not had any problems since.

I therefore recommend fitflops to all my patients with plantar fasciitis. Podiatry man also said to stretch while brushing your teeth so you do it for long enough and you can also make a big wooden wedge at about 5 degrees, thick end away from you and stand on it while doing your teeth so it does the stretch for you, but I kept falling over when I tried that!
