planning permission

will I need planning permission for a box section framed, ply wood sided shed measuring approx. 8 foot wide, 6 foot deep and around 7foot tall.

it will not be a permanent structure, in as much as it will be able to be taken down in a short time with nowt but a spanner and a screwdriver

I don't think there will be a problem provided its only a small single level extension

Yep just build it. 6x8 is not very big though - are you restricted for space?

I am restricted to 8 foot wide as I already have a 4 foot wide shed and the garden is only 13 foot wide itself. 6 foot deep would match the depth of the current shed too and still keep space for the dog to roam and my son to play in.

the 8x6 will only be used to house the lathe, mill drill and grinder on one bench along the back, and a small welding table along one side.

the 6x4 can then be used purely as storage meaning there will be no clutter in the bigger shed so it can be used as a small workshop granted it will be a bit cramped when the hardinge gets in there but it will be just about big enough for my need for now.

still trying to get a deposit for a bigger house with enough space for a proper breeze block shed with plenty of space

A grinder and welding bench in the same 8x6 space as a top-quality Hardinge? That would bring many a toolmaker to tears.

At the very least make up a cover to throw over the Hardinge.

I will be making a cover for it, I always cover my machine tools while grinding or welding near them anyway.

will probably make a wooden box like cover for it, at the moment I am just using a tarpaulin for my current tools.

will probably look at extraction too at some point.
