Plankton/diatom weirdness

Can anybody offer an explanation.
On my website are a couple of sculptures based on Diatoms and plankton.

For about a week now I have spotted in my webstats lots of hits from Asia, eg Indonesia, Japan, India, Korea looking for' Diatoms'.

Just curious really but has any body got any ideas.

Is it Asian Plankton week? is there a news story. Or just bizarre coincidence.
