Apologies in advance, wood bothering question!
Following on from my hinge question, I’m going to be replacing every internal door in our house over the next few weeks. Inevitably, the majority will need ‘fettling’ (I’m sure there’s a proper wood working term!). I was going to buy a cordless electric planer, but it occurred to me that they make a mess and I don’t want to be working outdoors at this time of year. So I did a bit of research and it appears the purists still very much prefer to plane by hand. I’m conscious however that they know what they’re doing, and I don’t. That said, is hand planing really that difficult? I’m not looking at taking up fine woodworking for a hobby, I just want to get a decent job done with minimal hassle. What do you guys think?
Cheers.
