Pipe fittings

The chap that had my storage unit before me made "gas pipe furniture". And left a filing cabinet full of galvanized fittings behind...think some of it might be used too.

Anyway, I don't make that kinda stuff and I need to clear space so is it worth trying to shift it on or just give it to the scrap man? Be a good few quid to buy new.

Some 1/2" and 1" but mostly 3/4.

It will be worth something, those quantities start to stack up when buying new. I recently bought 3 lengths of 3/4 pipe and a bag of fittings and it came to over £200, the 3/4 fitting I bought were generally £1-£3 each and that was none galv.

"black iron" (albeit galvanized) fittings are useful.

I mean you have loads of them. I never seen to have the one I want.

Scrap will get you very little. eBay bundles, if you can be bothered, will get you much more.

I've purchased bundles of them off here before I think. And still never have the part I want!


(We were going to do some shelves in my daughter's room with them, and totalled up the cost, and then just bought some unistrut type stuff...)

But that's the thing isn't, I have a stack of 3/4 pipe too and a pipe threader, I could put a few units together and punt then but guaranteed I'm missing what's necessary....there's no floor plates for example.

You cheat that part.
1. Get a member hear with a plasma to make the flanges from 1/4" thick plate.
They should ship easily in a small box.
2. You weld the pipe to said flange.
You save buying the flange, and not having to thread that end of the pipe.

Is it "Historically accurate" ? NO.
Will anyone care ? probably not, and you can approximate the flange boss with a nice fillet of caulking/filler.

Not that it really matters but, I could make them myself no problem but it's far cheaper to buy them than make them, having the thread allows for wonky floor adjustment too.
