haha
lastime we had the cage bent for us but since we a building two may be three (if my brother wonts one) then we might aswell have a go ower self
its called a baracuda i think it will be well worth the efort
think we will see what hapends on the 1st one because the project is dependant on us doing all the work otherwise i cant aford to do mine, i wil post some pic's in the projects forum when it's started
the plans have not arived yet so i dont kno what the specs call for but i would of thorght it would be CDS, i have herd of lots of people bending there own cages for land rover etc what material would you recomend for use with a hydraulic bender?
the edge products, would not rely on them completely but they are good to use as a base, don’t know if these new ones are going to be better than the last set as we only used them for the rough shape and did the rest ower selves
Loads of folks on the forums I go on use pipe benders with modified dies for CDS tube. Sometimes sleeving with sheet metal can give a better fit and will bend the tube without collapsing it. Others use Hilmor type benders again with appropriate dies (and the strength of an ox). Some custom builders go for stuff like the JD squared (from these chaps - http://www.tubela.com/ ), but this costs quite a bit. On the 'chopperbuilder' website, there are some fantastic examples of custom bikes built with the hydraulic benders.
i own the original fiesta bender bought it to do a frame and it worked well, does a good job on inch tube, but if you want it to bend 2 inch dont forget to make the shoe and the guides bigger hth
I cut the head off a record bender and welded it to 100 x 100 box so I bend through the horizontal have not tried 2" but have bent 1 1/2 " by 2mm thick wall no problem.
