1HP would be silly, and also quite large for a single phase motor. You're creating problems which don't exist. Address the power issue if and when it ever arises, which it likely won't. As for which, the Record or Draper, quality speaks for itself. One is, one isn't. Most modern, domestically biased drill presses are fine for whacking holes in material. If you want precision and reliability, however, generally you can forget it.
Wise words. If you need more power buy a bigger drill and sell the one you've got to help pay for it. If you buy a used one it won't lose much in value, and you may even make a profit!

. Just seems to me wired why a brand like Draper has a 500 and 1000 Watt bench Drills or even the Lidl bench Drill is a 500Watt .All this Single Phase !If I see it right and please correct me on that, the Watt is not so important rather the actual quality of the machine and the rest of their components
?
me with the new stuff .Sometimes they adv. stuff like high Watts etc as hook and they have forgot everything else! It is this marketing that has destroy the reputation of many brands with cheap stuff this day.So then old good stuff my friends .
