So when I was literally still a child (ok a teenager that smoked embassy no1 and thought he was cool) I tried welding “aye up pigeons are in t’ garage again” is what the Yorkshire foreman said when he saw my efforts.......... was a huge ancient oil Cooled arc welder....... since then I have always wanted to be able to weld and admired the skills of fabricators being desk bound the last few years COVID brought an opportunity (aka unemployment) and having run out of fences to paint and Netflix to watch a £40 gem of a welder from Lidl caught my eye....... well why not I have some time right! Watched a few videos heeded the advice sort of, usually I would spend months researching and spend 4 times inital budget on some pro kit “buy once, buy right” but JSA dictates that’s not to be (yet at least, seen some fancy looking toys )
so that’s me looking for stuff to weld anyone recommend where I can get some good learning stock ideally cheap as my current effort dpf asking mates and trying to buy locally are turning up short don’t mind paying a bit for some flat scrap and off cuts but where? As it’s literally laying beads right now and burning rods literally for the sake of it I’d rather save the funds for the rods.......
Any way that’s me (this is a cheap hobby right )
ideas for simple projects for budget, stock and space limited options appreciated....
