What DID you do to that poor Landy anyway bucko?

i had big open mud tyers on it and i was driveing along enjoying the rumbel of my new raised air intake and put the brakes on going down a wet road next thing i kno iv hit a tree an beeing spun round in the midle of the road and now theres a big scrape in the road where my leafspring dug in im just glad i put thows bucket seats in because i was dooing a bout 40 and it dint slow down at all and all i got was too scraches cross my nuckl from the dash

i wonted to rebild her wich i would of if i was staying in the uk the first thing i did befor i checked if i was ok was add up how much monys worth of dammage i had done lol

Sounds like you got off lightly bucko. Reminds me of a mate at college, he wrote off 2 Landy's in the space of a year. First one he turned right out of a T junction, and got T-boned by a speeding TR7 of all things, the Landy was scrap but he got away with a couple of head cuts from the inside of the Landy cabin (no surprises about that bit ). The second one he drove it into a massive hole, it was a LWB Landy, and broke the chassis! That was scrap too.

lol the good thing about landy's is ther neva srap ypu can get evary singal part for them. it is possable to build a "new" old land rover compleatly from the britpart catouge lol

i did enjoy driveing it if you look at the 1st pic's on my ex's farm you would probly think i didnt love it but them dents wer all from lots of abouse off road as i dont see the point in not useing them for what it was build for, i have put plenty off jap's bk in there place and pulled quiet a few suzikis out of the mud

i was thinking about importing it to the usa with me but that tree made ma mind up about that :P

My `68 Chrysler... needed a little in the passenger front floor, but otherwise, just mechanical and paintwork, all done in my own garage last and this year.

Then there`s a TR7 restoration to get on with. When i`ve finished those there`s an E30 to fit a 4.4 into. Previous have 2 flatbed`d Hilux`s, and a Robin Hood Project 2B 4x4. I`ll try and get some pics up if i can find them all.

i like the sounds off all of them

at some point in wont to put a 1.8T in a mk1 golf or a mk2 pick up show alll the red necks you dont need a big truck to go fast

I guessed a Merc from the hideous red interior. My father had a 1971 280 3.5 v8, he put 250,000 miles on it, and sold it in the mid 80s for £1000.

Loved that motor Had leccy windows too, big wow back in those days.

main reason i'm here really, can do pretty much everything else to a car interms of mechincally, just always farmed out for the welding, not for much longer though!!

ok, car 1 Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4x4

purchased 4 years ago, pretty standered when i got it, prob spent around 4000 on the engine alone over that time, have rolling roads for 280hp, although we believe the local rolling road underreads slightly as it was set up wrong, was a qucik car none the less.

blew it up once, killed the gear box and the turbo, so decided bigger better turbo, new engine and gearbox etc

this grey shell is quite rotten on one side at the back, so is being stripped and this new engine is going in my other car, and this shell will be taken back to standered once all worked over,

car 2 Cavalier Turbo 4x4!!!

yep same car, different colour, picked up this shell of a freind after it had a light bump in the rear, this will be stripped to a bare shell and fully restored with the new engine and turbo etc, will be circa 400hp!! weighing around 1200kgs should be fairly quick!!

been pretty much into my cars for years, once the welding's done theres pretty much nothing i wont be able to in terms of working on fixing and modifying the car, inc retrimming the interior, as i did that already!!

also all my mates are into cars, one has a TVR cerbera 4.2, awesome sounding car, will be trimming his seats also soon, and another freind has a Audi B5 RS4, he also want some trimming done, and custom manifold dpending on how handy i get with the welder!

Mk II mini. Was an 850 but I have a metro 1275 with its 4 pot vented disks (mini hubs) ready to do on, once I get the shell sorted.

It's a 1967 car, with one front guard replaced at some stage due to a slight accident, Im guessing. So original sills and so on, thanks to someone undersealing it really well at an early shell, and the fact that NZ doesn't use salt on its roads. I need to replace the rear valance (panel ready to go, but I might mod it slightly), and check for any corners where corrosion has gone too deep.

The rotisserie is a recent project which worked out okay. Balances nicely, rolls easily and breaks down for transport or storage.

Well here's my landy project, only just got back on the road. (huurah! ) working on a project stored 20 something miles away tends to make for slow progress.....

So far new floor/side pannels in the back, tank guard, modified HD rear bumper, NAS lights. still to be finnished off, but at least something to show for all the effort so far.

Still to do front end, winch/bumper snorkel etc

But today I'm going out for a drive in the countryside!!!!!!!!!

Really these are all on hold for the next 9 months at least, because Im half way through building a new house and living in a static caravan in the barn, so cant build the workshop yet, and my lathe/mill are still at my old house covered in thick oil waiting. And you better believe I cant wait for the reunion, but the big arc/tig made it as we needed it for running repairs... But in the queue waiting for my time and tlc:-
Citroen H van (very early one, hence the split screen). Its too far gone to restore, the engines missing and the rear chassis rails are knackered so it probably will be built as a custom van with a nice v8 midmounted. So far all Ive managed in three years is to bring it home and rust proof it to try and preserve it a bit for when I do get chance.

vw bay camper, everything primered or weird coloured has had new panels.
Only body thing left to do of note is the front deformation panel (has to go!) and the main front panel is thin under the window, and Ive got to finish reskinning the drivers door. The celly is sat on the shelf in the workshop along with a nos doorskin and a weber carb. Its had 2 door skins, 2 wings, a new drivers/passenger floorpan, a rear quarter and a motor rebuild, and some merc wheels. Its sitting forlorn in the garden of our other place waiting for me to make some room in the barn here.

nova kitcar, lotus eprit chassis, renault un1 transaxle, rover v8. Im still undecided as to if to restore this chassis and use it, or take time out to make a spaceframe one using it as a jig. Id like to go to a turbo 1uzfe toyota v8 as the rover block is a bit big for the space available. Then I can save the lpg rover motor and 6-71 blower for my H van project

This is the bodyshell...

JCB 3cIII Digger, sort of project, in that it needs lots of work but its so busy at the moment only got time to sew it back together when it breaks, rather than doing the job as I would like. Needs a engine rebuild quite desperately (its a leyland 4/98 and I think a liner has slipped) along with new front bucket bushes. Id like to go through it and fix everything and restore the cab when the house is done and it can have a nice rest. That barn is going to be one of my workshops

Me landy, no welding needed at the moment so just keeping it greased and full of oil like y'do. It disgraced itself by lunching its turbo the other month, but fortunately I had one on a bike that I could nick for a replacement...

This is waiting for me to get round to finish, its a 750 kawasaki turbo in a spaceframe :-

My gs again waiting for attention to finish off the supercharger and turbo pipework and fit some fat spoked wheels.

All 316 stainless, I must want my head feeling :-

Waiting for a months work to finish sat next to me as I type in my office, think Ill have to get this done for next summer to have some fun on when the house is nearing completion. Its got a 600cc kit on it, tweesman big bore pipe and lc4 carb etc :-

Another jeep 750 turbo project, only this time with a standard frame, tl1000s forks, fireblade wheels and swingarm. I keep tripping over the freshly rebuilt engine daily so itll probably get done sooner rather than later.

Besides this, theres a massey harris pony tractor I keep tinkering with when I get a free minute and Im in the mood, Ive rebuilt the engine as the one in it threw a rod through the cases, and managed to find time to put it in partially.
For some reason as its next to the mobile home, when my wife sees me tinkering she insists i work on building the house instead, but you gotta have a break right?
We've got another one that I did make time to rebuild the engine on and fettle, which we use to tame the wilderness that is our garden. Consigning all the crappy briggs engined tractors to duty as play tractors for my 5yo boy.
