you will need it wiring to single phase at the poles , you will need a 30 amp supply to the welder with a 30amp trip switch or fuse . its more than likely that the transformer has burnt out though . oil filled welders get a lot of condensation in them especialy when there in barns etc ( farms ) the water sinks to the bottom and boom there goes your transformer , also oil filled welders need to be used on a level surface otherwise the transformer may not be covered by the oil to keep it cool resulting in over heating . pickhill were very good welders , as good as oxford . they shouldn't trip a trip switch just by turning them on though .
