Anyone know the best treatment after treating steel with phosphoric acid? Not ready for painting yet but just want to make sure the acid is neutralised.
Just leave it on.it leaves a white coating when too much is left on after it dries.just rub that off. The reacted rust goes black. Iron phosphate I presume.
If you can get hold of some zinc you can dissolve it i the acid first. We used to use old big 9v battery casings but I dont know if they are still available.
It will then clean and leave a zinc phosphate layer, almost like galvanising
