I have got someone coming in monday to go through everything that i need to get up today (family member who is very in the know so not costing me) sure there is pleant i need to sort out to keep them happy.

they inspected another garage not to far from me and shut them down with all the faults, one that got me was there axle stands having bolts in them not the pins they were made with all of mine have got bolts in them lol well they wont from monday

if there threaded all the way they can be weakened, just buy long part threaded bolts and cut the threads off then they become pins

My mate runs a garage and said axle stands are a no no these days. Plus the fact that you can't get someone to work on there back anyway, they would just work for someone with the proper tackle which is perfectly understandable.

Phone calls?
A couple of years back this guy phoned me, he had an Indian accent and spoke like somebody cold calling me.
Get rid of him as fast as possible but politely.
Third call he said he liked my fish scuptures, so ok give him five minutes he had done some research.
Oh, he went and spent £1500 buying one. his phone manner is something they were taught at school.
He cracked up when I admitted I thought he was a cold caller.

id phone them back and give em a gobfull , sometimes my wife gets grief of customers for one reason or another , if there nasty i just told her to tell em where to get off as its not her fault and shouldnt have to take it

Caused by the (American lady) pre-recorded announcement that many cold-callers don't bother to change. I admit, as soon as I heard that, I'd hang up too, but it was quite identifiable. As far as I know, I've never hung up on a genuine American caller

Them and godaddy. That's why I went with a pricier but more reliable outfit, rarely any issues and when there is you get plenty of info and a quick resolution.

Start suing them. The Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations covers direct marketing calls;

Unsolicited calls for direct marketing purposes

21. (1) A person shall neither use, nor instigate the use of, a public electronic communications service for the purposes of making unsolicited calls for direct marketing purposes where—

(a)the called line is that of a subscriber who has previously notified the caller that such calls should not for the time being be made on that line; or

(b)the number allocated to a subscriber in respect of the called line is one listed in the register kept under regulation 26.

(2) A subscriber shall not permit his line to be used in contravention of paragraph (1).

(3) A person shall not be held to have contravened paragraph (1)(b) where the number allocated to the called line has been listed on the register for less than 28 days preceding that on which the call is made.

(4) Where a subscriber who has caused a number allocated to a line of his to be listed in the register kept under regulation 26 has notified a caller that he does not, for the time being, object to such calls being made on that line by that caller, such calls may be made by that caller on that line, notwithstanding that the number allocated to that line is listed in the said register.

(5) Where a subscriber has given a caller notification pursuant to paragraph (4) in relation to a line of his—

(a)the subscriber shall be free to withdraw that notification at any time, and

(b)where such notification is withdrawn, the caller shall not make such calls on that line.

Proceedings for compensation for failure to comply with requirements of the Regulations

30. (1) A person who suffers damage by reason of any contravention of any of the requirements of these Regulations by any other person shall be entitled to bring proceedings for compensation from that other person for that damage.

(2) In proceedings brought against a person by virtue of this regulation it shall be a defence to prove that he had taken such care as in all the circumstances was reasonably required to comply with the relevant requirement.

(3) The provisions of this regulation are without prejudice to those of regulation 31.


Send them a Notice before action, requesting damages - say £30 per phone call for the time, and effort involved, and then small claims them.

I'm suing spammers ATM via this method, at £200 a time

A good pal of mine has a recording of himself singing in the shower and general splashing about, when he gets a cold call he politely asks if they mind waiting as he has just got out of the shower to answer the phone, he then clicks play on the recording and carries on with what he was doing!
The recording lasts about 20 minutes and concludes with a section where he gets talcum powder in his eyes.
(He lives alone and winding up cold callers are the highlight of his day).

Another time a Nigerian rang him up claiming to be from Microsoft and needed to check my pals computer, he asked him to turn on his PC and open Windows, my pal said OK and after a couple of minutes asked whether it would be OK to close Windows as the snow was blowing in!

I get lots of calls from abroad asking for the late husband of the Widow I bought this home off (he died about ten years back) that might seriously annoy / upset you as the widow. I no longer tell them he is no longer here and died a decade ago I just hang up, thinking on I might start leaving them with an open line ad walking off

We are registered with tps and don't seem to get many calls from uk call centres, but we've been plagued the last few years from foreign (mainly Indian by the sounds of it) call centres asking about surveys etc.

I get a few calls for a previous occupier, but when I say he no longer lives here they just carry on by asking if I'm the current home owner so I do as above and put the phone down unless I'm bored and fancy a windup
