yes i saw the meter that was round the wire said 5.6 amps . the fuse im talking about is in the front of the machine is old and porculane (spelling) and is under a screw on cap . how ever 1 did notice these while taking pictures today which looked asif could be fusees didnt investigate tho was wearing clean cloths lol

so do you think im going to need a 57 amp supply ?

yep there is 2 fuses one for each phase his clamp meter might not have got peak hold . that means it wont test starting current. the breaker u have might need changing to a c type to over come the start load there slydlock fuses check what size wires in them

i presume the load will be total over the 2 phases which would be 30 amp each .making the total 60 amp

il do some investigation of fuse sizes in it and see what i can find . odd there being a single 30amp in the front panel id have thought thered be two if its 60amp one for each phase as you say

trace the lead in to welder 2 see if it goes to the 2 slydelock fuses 1st thats the best i can say without seeing myself

i dont think it does you can see the big lead in the pic above . the wires on them slydelock fuses are quite small aswell

well i tested this today using a differnt supply than mine and i got it up to 110amps so it defo works must just be a weak link in my electricy supply . the guy who let me use his unit also gave me a c type 32a breaker so should be up and runing once ive fitted that

Just make sure you've got the supply safely isolated before you get in there with a screwdriver

im abit nervous about that bit tbh might get someone else whos around where my unit is whos abit more confident with the 3 phase il work on 240 but 415 scares me
