Hi chaps
It's my birthday soon and I fancy a new lid to replace my ebay cheapy. Budget is <£100. The options I'm considering are Phantom XL or IFL XL-S/GYS Spaceview.
I mostly do bench TIG on steel up to 120A and the occasional bit of stick. I want to do a bit more low amperage work so would like a mask that will cope with that. I do wear glasses but take them off for work close up work. I don't need reading glasses yet, but may do in the future, so I also need the option of a cheater lens.
The two helmets on my list seem pretty similar. The XL-S/Spaceview is currently my favourite due to having external controls. I like to be able to tweak the shade while I'm welding. I wish these cheaper helmets had a lighter shade when off, but that only seems to be available by spending a lot more.
Any opinions on these two, or any others I should look at?
Thanks
Fergal
