Crafts Not Creative??!!
You may have heard about the worrying proposal by the Department for
Culture, Media and Sport to remove crafts as a category within the creative
industries.Please sign this e-Petition to stop the government reclassifying
craft as non-creative

I was sent the message above by a friend in the arts scene. It seems that the management of our country feel that the 'crafts' industry is not a creative industry. What rubbish. I dont know what kind of effect this would have on anything but it does not sound very healthy. I have signed the petition. I think this relevant here as there quite a few creative metalworkers on this forum.
So support it if you feel it worthwhile.
But please dont turn this into a dumb politicised rant

It's also astonishing who makes up these brilliant ideas and gets payed a lot of money for doing so. They Wonder why they got trounced lol. Many small business start from crafts and we need all the help we can get, saying to those people "you are not recognised" is really not helpful.

I saw this somewhere else and have signed it already. Absolutely disgraceful. Even if we're not doing ornamental ironwork as such, anyone who puts thought into how they build things and cares about what the finished product looks like is a craftsman. For any politician to say otherwise is ridiculous.
