Thought I'd start a thread on my strip down and rebuild on my peter wright vice.

I will most probably sleeve it. Once all the parts are cleaned I can temporary rebuild it and sort any issuesIf a hole is worn elongated etc, assemble, then over bore the hole. And either use a larger stepped fitted bolt made on your lathe, or just a larger bolt, or sleeve it and fit the origional bolt
since there is an elongated hole in the rail. When reinstalling the movable jaw onto its rail, cover one end of the bolt holes and pour molten lead into them,
It looks to me like it was designed that way or the other hole would be worn as well if it was due to excess play.
Bitsa as in bitsIs it a 'bitsa'?
Got ya. us folk down in Colchester use the word bitsa to describe something with lots of bits missing. Or something made of parts from all over the placeNo, as in 'bitsa this and bitsa that'.![]()
That's proper raw casting .
