It still scratches very easy and if you wash the car often usually wants replacing after a year or two 'cause you can't see through it any more.

You can polish plastic windows up nicely with Farécla G10, I used to do it with the molded one on my VW Caddy and it came up lovely but I had to do it every couple of months if I wanted it to remain as clear as possible.

Well it’s had a bit of tarpaulin taped over it for a year or so, and it’s been ok but the other night on the M25 the tiny hole in one corner began to grow. By the time I got home about 40 miles later the tiny hole was bit enough to crawl through! At least I don’t have to open the tailgate to get stuff out now!

It was this hole that prompted me to fix it properly at last. I’m not bothered about it being clear or not as I don’t use the interior mirror, but I’d like it to look less crap so I was thinking of something black or smoked that might look a little more ‘standard ‘.

I’ve been looking at sheetplastics.co.uk (was that site recommended here or did I just find it?) and they do a range of stuff that may be suitable. Just need to check up on flexibility before I bite the bullet.

Tiger Seal is what I’ve used. It can be messy but that isn’t an issue when your aiming to beat people round a race track haha. You can get fantastic results if you take your time and clean up before it dries.

The Lexan I have is tinted and scratch resistant, but as said it still scratches.

If you are using a plastic, Get some Lexan, you can smack i with hammers and it will just laugh at you,

That would be a trade name for a polycarbonate

Probably every polycarbonate manufacturer create a similar spec polycarbonate. It may have better UV and clear colour attributes compared to other specifications.
I'm designing plastic parts at the moment and they are polycarbonate - the spec on the polymer will be closest to crystal clear + fire retardant due to proximity to LED's.

Is Lexan just a normal polycarbonate or does it have special properties that make it so tough?
