Watched this and was amazed by the engine restoration. Might not be the shiny replace all the parts kind of restoration you would find elsewhere but given the state it started in it is something else. Wouldn't have even been broken for parts here.

Such hard work with relatively simple tools, though I did chuckle when I saw his 'visor' for the stick welding.

Similar videos from Vietnam are tailored according to one scenario. Somewhere in a ravine, quite by chance, there is a very rusty-looking motorcycle, etc. technique. Appearance - suitable for remelting in an open-hearth furnace and nothing more. And then the cleaning magic begins. An earthen floor, primitive instruments in the frame - strictly necessary. IMHO, this is a staged video. You can notice a discrepancy that the cylinder head gasket is alternately on the cylinder block, then it is stuck to the cylinder head. Accelerated rusting and shelling in Asian climates, not a problem + carefully pre-lubricated rebuilt mechanisms using parts that have never been bathed in water for years. But it doesn't fit in the frame. Apparently, YouTube advertising during the promotion of such channels pays off the investment and feeds the author. Why not.

People in Asia earn their bitter bread by the sweat of their brows. Young people turn on their heads and implement their scenarios using new technologies. Diligence and imagination, with understandable motivation and monetization.

Diesel with video, these are at least two different diesel engines, with different fates. IMHO.

PS: The genre of pseudo-restoration of old iron, with a primitive set of tools and a magical restoration of the functionality of an object, has long caused certain thoughts in me (as a former antiques restorer). At a minimum, I notice traces of artificial accelerated aging. Exactly where it does not cause significant damage to the "art object".
