Okay hey guy, been welding for about 8 plus years on cars and sheet metal and stuff, but only recently got into doing real thick work, so I’ve seen the issue with other areas of the project but for a specific example is, there was a hole in some 10mm mild steel and I obviously cleaned the steel up (probably could’ve done a better job inside the hole but it was certainly clean enough) I used the mig to basically fill in the hole, then ground it flat and all that jazz, the issue is I can see that it’s properly fused and stuff, but you still get a small dark ring, almost like a crack? I’ve not done any more work on it yet but had the issue elsewhere on the project
I have a tig but haven’t got it set up yet, but I’m just hoping I’ll be able to sort it with the mig as it’s quicker for me, I can post pictures if it helps explain what I’m on about.
Any advice you guys have would be appreciated! Thanks!
