That did actually cross my mind ,who can tell the next ploy they will use to "Balance the books".I wonder if the 25p is some kind of ploy to take the pension over some thresh hold or other. They must have no shame. On the up side you could treat yourself to a packet of crisps once a month.
I'll use the silver foil one I have ready when the first NUK gets dropped.No-one will be able to afford a hat![]()
Packet of crisps ! Luxury ,when I was a lad.............................That did actually cross my mind ,who can tell the next ploy they will use to "Balance the books".
Totally not dramatic at all![]()
That's 5 shillings isn't it?Just opened yesterdays mail and had a fabulous surprise. The Gov in it's wisdom and against the current predictions have decided to award me a bonus for reaching 80 yrs. Wow. Didn't expect that and it has caught me completely off guard especially as my Financial advisor has just adjusted our yearly budget forecast which ,to be honest, didn't look good but "happy days" I will now return to my profligate style of living. You guys just cannot understand the feeling of financial freedom I can now experience.
Did I mention the sum involved ? Well it does come with a caveat that states that I must not spend it all in one shop for fear of causing a financial unbalance in the high street so I must spread the windfall around a bit . Sit down pepes ,ARE YOU READY ? A whole 25p per week !!!!!! That's every week until I snuff it and with any more shocks like that might not be long. Now the question .Do I accept it or tell them to donate it to the M.P. Benevolent fund .
I'm glad you managed to put a gloss on it. Now I can see why they are thinking about cancelling part of HS2. To repeat an old joke . I promise to spend it only on essentials like wine, women, and tools and not waste it.Or you could look at the bigger picture, because it's £13 a year. See it seems better already.![]()
Fixed it.We're all going to the pub and the drinksare on you - that's your bonus wiped out.![]()
Tell them to put it on the slate and I'll be around when I've saved up or not. We're all going to the pub and the drinks are on you - that's your bonus wiped out.![]()
Many of us on here remember the 70s and what followed.![]()
Might be another winter of discontent, judging by the way things are going.
My council tax is £158 a month, with the 25% discount, so losing that discount will add up to far more than the £200 fuel allowance over 12 months.Single resident council-tax discount seems like a target too, so could be another c£500 money-grab from pensioners living alone, on top of losing the fuel allowance...
I've hear from a reliable source that things can only get betterMight be another winter of discontent,
