Pedal power. For a Kemppi (10 pin plug)

Hiya folks.

I think i'm nearly half way there on my new welder. It's a Kemppi TU20 HF add on unit, running off an old AC buzzbox as a power source.

I think i'm fairly sorted on most parts of it. Just waiting for a few bits to come in at work so i can build a rectifier for the buzzbox.

Main problem at the moment is actually turning the arc on!

I have two multi pin sockets on the front. A 4-pin and a 10-pin.

I know what i need to connect for a standard pedal on a 14-pin plug but none of the TIG's at work have got 10-pin connectors so i dont know what to connect and i dont want to break anything by getting it wrong.

Any one have any advice?

Can't help you with the pins but I can tell you that the Kemppi foot pedal uses both sockets. The 4pin does the switch, as I have to unplug that to use the panel amps and torch switch. Don't have to take the 10 pin out. W/A

Had a chat with a nice bloke over at Heliarc via email and it would appear that the long of the short of it is that even if i made a pedal for it, i wouldn't have much control as the signal from the pedal basically bypasses the TU20 and controls the Kemppi power source.

Unfortunatly i dont have a kemppi power source so that wont work.

So back to square one i guess, maybe just sell all the stuff i've aquired to part fund a cheap chinese 3 in 1??

You will struggle to get the TU unit to work. It was designed for use with Kemppi PS & PSS systems. Its not impossible, just not that viable. I know a guy looking for a TU if you need to offload it.

Hiya, yeah, thats the general opinion i've been hearing.

If your mate is ok with picking up from ease essex or can send a courier he's welcome to make me an offer.
