Another question for you Matt -
(which may not have been applicable to your work, i guess, so you may not know)
Currently i generate two tool paths for the job - a roughing cut, where i tell the generator that the tool is 0.5mm wider than it is, to leave 0.25mm of material.
Then a finishing cut, where the tool is plunged to the center of the hole, and then moved out to the edge in an arc, to skim the last 0.25mm of material off with the side of the tool.
The two paths are saved off individually, and then stuck together using a perl script!
(yeah, convoluted, i know!)
This is all total madness, obviously. It should be all automated. Im using some aincient generator, and, whilst it works, maybe it is time to throw some money at it to get a sensible sitiation.
Do you know if the above sort of stuff is all included in the vectric offerings?
Realistically im not going to spend £1500 or whatever, but a few hundred quid for something that works would be ok.
This can all be done in Vectric (Probably want to look at vCarve which gives you most of the functionality of Aspire without the 3D modeling and contour machining).
You can get a demo which is fully featured for 30 days to try all this out.
Vectric software is very easy to use.
