Must say I'm not the best at keeping receipts in fact I usually bin them on the way from the shop. On this occasion I kept the receipts for 2 angle grinders that I bought from Aldi in Nov last year. The grinders have a 3 year warranty.
Using one of the grinders one day, the disk stopped rotating although the motor was still running. I looked out the receipt and went back to Aldi complete with the grinder. Cashier there told me it was over 60 days so they couldn't do anything, but pointed out a tel number and email add on the box who I should contact.
I looked them up on the net, filled in the form and explained that I suspected a gearbox problem. They replied saying to attach a copy of the receipt for the grinder, which I did.
The next reply I got from them was to say that they had dispatched a new grinder to me and that they didn't want the old one returned.
Soooooo...........
Nut holds the bevelled pinion on the shaft had come off.

Grease cleaned off shaft thread, new nut with some stud lock.
Working as good as new.
Hoping the new on arrives this week, it can go in the cupboard.
