Stockholm Syndrome identified in a group of people being held hostage in I think a bank heist situation in Sweden, they built up a relationship with their captors.

I shall persuade Mrs C to try and watch it with me.
I have always had a fascination with the weird anarchist terrorist groups from the early 70's, Baader meinhoff, Red Brigade, Carlos etc etc.

Yep, I have never owned a telly. That's not to say there has never been one in the house, just that I didn't own it

But how many times do you have to tell the muppets at TV licensing that you don't have one?

If any of the rest of you want to know where your license fee goes - I reckon half of it is spent printing and posting threatening letters to me telling of the dire consequences of having/watching a TV without a license.

I told them three or four times that there isn't one in the house and then I gave up and just throw the letters in the recycle pile. At least they have the logo on the outside so I don't even have to bother opening them.

This was explained to me by the nice Muppet from licensing
' Saying you have no TV puts you in such a small minority that stastically you dont exist'
Made perfect sense to me.
He then demanded to come into the house to find the TV.
I explained that I dont exist and sent him on his way.
Have not heard from them for years.
But stuffed if I am allowing some besuited pillock to come into my house.

They sent us letters for about 6 years. They finally came round one day generally when you would find most people at work, and posted a card saying they had been round. 6 months later they finally caught us at home and we invited him in. He poked his head around the front room door and said 'yep thats fine' and left...all of 30 seconds!

Glad to see there's quite a few on here who are television-free. We too have had no telly for about 30-odd years now. We cheat a bit, because if there is an interesting documentary or something we really want to see, we just drive round to her mother's place, not far away. ("Hello, how are yer, are yer alright? What's on telly?").

We still get threatening letters, and often have a laugh at them, as they are so much b/s. A recent one asked if we were ready for our court appearances, and it was a great temptation to reply. But we didn't, of course.

Haven't had anyone call yet, except one day recently we found a card someone had put through the letterbox without knocking, as we were in at the time. What a lot of rollocks it all is, it must be costing them millions a year in employing a private company to write letters and occasionally visit people. The letters can be quite threatening, and are probably frightening to some people, but we just have a laugh at them.

One year I made the mistake of letting one of these inspector pillocks in. As we have no telly he spent a bit of time on his hands and knees crawling around living-room, and looking at back of computer to see if it had a telly aerial on or something. He left satisfied we were kosher, and we had no more reminders for about six years. But I got a right rollicking off the missus for letting him in; they have no right to come in without a search warrant, apparently.
And if they have a search warrant do they have to be accompanied by a copper? What a ruddy farce!

The same arquitect that I work with had the same name as one of the B-M group. He stopped traveling in Germany by road, as they had frequent checks, the Poliz were quite trigger happy (with good reason..) And he reconned the sight of his ID card could result in a firefight.
I also traversed Rome Airport, with a driveshaft in the 80s. Customs wanted to look at it, after the flouroscope spotted it in my carry on. Guy wandered off while I unearthed it from under my undies. I got very carefull, when I saw two police guys with cocked weapons pointing in my direction. This was only a month after the Red Brigades had a shoot out there. 30 killed.
The Hearst afair I remember well. Video of her holding up a bank. I think one of the last of the group was found around 3(?) years ago, after living under an assumed name since those days.

I also got a hard time at the Belgian customs one time('76). Seems my (then) GF looked like a member of the B-M gang . At least they ignored the 100lt barrel of wine in the back...

Almost makes me want to start my own terrorist movement.
