Doing offices every year is a waste of time, you find few faults under desks ware items aren’t moved. You could test these low risk areas up to every 60 months.
Kitchens, areas with high use items, hoovers and the like want to be tested every 12 months.
Its all about matching the test frequency to the use the item will see. For instance in a heavy fabrication workshop, you may want to test hand tools, grinders and the like every 3-6 months and i bet you would find more faults doing that than testing offices every 5 year.
This is the correct approach. Just before I retired we went through this very exercise. Some items ended up with a 60 month inspection interval.
