Hi all,
I’m new to welding, but taken a few classes recently focusing on mig.
I’ve been doing some garage projects to practice, but admittedly struggling with my Parweld machine. I was bought a XTM201DI as a gift and expected the synergistic settings to help, but seems not.
I’m welding mild steel tubing with 2mm thick wall, and some mild steel ranging between 3-5mm. I’ve been using the synergistic settings and they just don’t seem right at all. Been using hobbyweld 5 gas and 0.8mm wire.
Most welds seem cold, sit on top of the metal and spatter a lot. I then need to use what basic knowledge I have to try and figure out what the issue is.
Has anyone found the standard settings to be off? It feels like wire speed is a bit fast and voltage a bit low, but that’s just me guessing.
Would it be easier to actually go into manual mode?
I’ve spent waaaay more time grinding than welding so my advice would be very welcome
