I have been struggeling with rough arc starting in AC mode on my Parweld xti 202.
When I start the arc with a fresh 1,6 mm tungsten, at 30 amps, it just start with a bang and spreading small spatters of molten tungsten.
After 5 starts it has balled up quite bad.
I was suspecting it starts with a pulse of EP so I changed polarity, voila problem gone. Same when trying lift-arc ( normal polarity, EN)
Made contact with a service guy which confirmed the machine starts in DC mode with a pulse of 30-40 amps, which explains why the tungsten melts.
Behind the front panel there is a little red switch.
Set it to on-off-off and the machine will start in AC instead.
What a difference
