Parweld XTI 202

Evening All,

so I have been sifting through some of the "wwhich welder to get" posts on here and am sort of swinging towards the parweld mentioned above. the question I have though is is it worth getting or avoiding the MMA capable version?

I always tent to look at a tool as being for 1 job. is this the general rule here also or is it worth getting the combination?

Same unit as the Thermal Arc 202, tidy little machine from what I know. Gets recommended an awful lot
Never seen it used on MMA mode tho

You can't really class a TIG/MMA machine as an all in one. The type of power source lends itself to being able to do both jobs well as TIG/MMA output types are relatively similar (this is why you won't find many TIGs that you can't stick weld with)
Ok, the stick output might not have the open circuit voltage of an out and out stick set so running certain types of specialist pipe welding rods (cellulosic) might be difficult but they will run most lo-hydrogens and all general purpose 6013 rods beautifully. Depends what you are looking to do with stick really but if it's not an expensive add-on I'd go for it as it doesn't detract one iota from the overall quality of the machine itself as it utilises all the same circuitry.

thanks for the reply, and all the details. Seems like I'll go for both then! not much price difference so that's cool.
