Hi guys,

Currently contemplating a new deal with 2 year warranty, wp9 valved torch and a decent air reg, some glovesm, tig finger and accessories. The price I was offered for the inverter alone seems pretty reasonable at £168. Cheaper than I have seen it offered elsewhere for sure.

I did buy a chinese 3-1 which i'm planning on attempting to fixing but I need to brush up on my skills before I can really take it on properly. Although I am waiting on a part to replace to see what happens.

I'll be losing all the fancy features and be stuck with lift tig. Total cost all in + postage for the mentioned gear has been offered at £272. Pretty competitive I think considering, if I wanted to buy the unit seperate i'd still end up paying more after sourcing a 35-50mm lead and torch + regulator.

Just really want to get started learning/practising TIG'ing already... It seems to be fairly recommended along with the XTI161 and seems to just about top the Thermal Arc 175 offering despite being slightly less amps . Goes down to 5 amps according to the manual, runs on 16a single phase no problem and has a fairly decent duty cycle.

Good deal? Or perhaps save a little more for something else... and possibly fix the chinese unit whilst saving some more.

I recently came across this SIP (when looking at inverter migs). I don't think old SIP migs get good press in the forum, but a friend of mine has one of their newer inverters and swears by it.

In all honesty including the torch it cant be a bad purchase, Parweld are not going to put a plant out that doesn't really work and risk any brading they have built- if only non branded stuff was like this my FIL bought one of those silly Chinese gasless MIG plants and while it makes an arc and will melt wire its impossible to get more than bird dirt from it.
Little lift TIG inverters? Nowt wrong with them just don't expect advanced features they don't have, considering a torch could set you back £100 ish . I should not get too concerned about who lists the most amps though on this type of set I shouldn't want to push it anyplace near max or even find out about its duty cycle. Duty cycles listed I have found should often be stored in the fiction section, some stretch the truth for sales others understate it for customer relations I am sure - it being a hard thing to prove 100%

I bit the bullet and ordered from Nathan at Oxford Welding Supplies today . Also my replacement LM324 should possibly arriving tomorrow for hopeful repair of the chinese 3-1 unit. Either way I can begin very soon .
