Parts washer juice?

It's been a while since I bought any, so what's the best of the current options? I won't need gallons of the stuff as I have a bench top washer with a 19l max capacity and 10l is about right.

It will need to be H&S, insurance and environmentally acceptable water soluble stuff BTW. The 'good old days' home brew paraffin/petrol/kero type concoctions can't be used.

Currently I have Comma Engine Degreaser in mine. It’s fine.

The last batch was off eBay. No name stuff. Took the paint off the inside of the tank!

Given the price of it I was tempted to try the 'No Nonsense' degreaser from Screwfix. I use the traffic film remover in the steam cleaner which works well. As with anything now which you haven't bought used in a while, new products seem to come along fairly frequently so thought I'd ask.

If you use the Screwfix no nonsense degreaser neat and hot it will etch aluminium so care is needed.

I've got Bilt Hamber surfex HD, seems to work ok. Seems to be double the price of the screwfix stuff though.

It'd be worth the extra to avoid forgetting @RaceDiagnostics warning and ending up with a nice etch finish on some engine cases.

I don't know if the formula here in the UK is the same as overseas, but " Gunk " brand degreaser is my go to favourite. I see that it can be had in 5 litres for about £ 10.oo on Ebay.

I tried that a few changes ago. It wasn’t very impressive. Unless there are different grades / recipes of it? I got mine from halfrauds. There may be a pro version from factors which is a bit more potent?

I’ve never found Gunk to be very good, found it left a slimy stuff on the surface, I found Jizer much better. I haven’t used either for years though. For general cleaning & degreasing I use B. H. Surfex, it gets used around the house as well, it seems pretty inert on plastics & cloth, it doesn’t seem to damage anything except oil based stuff.

Then its a different formula than that available overseas in California. The gunk solution there was completely neutralized with water leaving no residue.

I have never used Jizer in my cleaner but I wanted some instead of the comma. Couldn’t get it here at the time. It’s far better than comma at general cleaning so probably better in a tank too.

AutoSmart G101, can be used at a big variety of dilutions but I have no idea what it'd be like in a parts washer.

A surprisingly good water soluble degreaser is the Triple QX Ali wheel cleaner from Eurocarparts, got a few tubs of it on special a while ago and it really is good gear.

I used to use Gunk or Jizer in my parts washer but swapped to the Screwfix no nonsense stuff and it is every bit as good as the others with the added advantage of not smelling as bad. I was sceptical at first but it works really well on all my motorbike parts even removing solidified chain lube with ease.
