parting tool inserts

is it just me or is the whole thing confusing!

I used the links from Double Boosts Youtube so I would get the right items.

I ended up with a holder and 10 inserts BUT the inserts dont fit the holder.

Upon checking it seems they have wrong images on at least 3 platforms. Bangood, Ebay and Even Amazon.

This is what a Search for NC3030 produces.


You can see the ones that are marked 3020 on the left are the ones I need. They have sent me NC3030 but the longer ones either side of the center photo.

The ones on the right would fit mine but are stamped 3030....god knows whats going on!.
All I know is I need some urgently to part something off and no one can give me confidence they can get the right ones to me quickly!

NC3030 will be the grade and you will get many shapes of inserts sharing that grade. In likelihood they probably don't even share the grade but...

The style (shape) of insert you are looking for is probably SP*** or GTN* , the *** or * will be the width, for example SP300 and GTN3 will both be 3mm wide inserts.

If that's the exact holder you have then you need GTN3 inserts.

If you got the 32mm, 3mm thick blade, you'll need the SP300's. Ignore the nc3030 I think that is the carbide grade and will be on many shapes. I have a couple spare. Send me a pm and I will drop in post.

I have bought their tools on Ebay. The holders are all British made. Good quality - nice to see Britain copying the Chinese for a change

Thanks to all your replies I understand things a little clearer now.

I guess they put the grade on the insert as the shape is identifiable (when you know what to look for) but not the grade.

I phoned Jenny and she was very helpful telling me what tips I needed for a certain 12mm boring bar I wanted.
Even gave me a couple of spare tips for free!
Definitely recommend.

I think Iscar were one of the first on the scene with the GTN type inserted parting tools.

We made most things before anyone else.

I learnt that from the posts in here Brad. Shame the suppliers do not make it clear!

The fact I ordered SP300 but ended up with an insert thats does not fit, or anywhere close, but has NC3030 made me think that was the insert ID.
These are the ones they sent.



Not sure what they fit. And I have no idea if they are , 3mm inserts or not. I guess measuring them might be a start.

Typical tools they will be used in are top clamp grooving tools or possibly even what could be considered a MDT holder (Multi Direction Tool)

I purchased this yesterday as I needed a 2mm groove quicker than I needed a parting tool. But I dont think the inserts I have will fit as I THINK they are indeed 3mm.

I have bought from them before and can't complain about the service etc but are they really getting their tooling from somewhere else other than China?

Not being funny but I can't tell the difference between the turning inserts I've got from them and the ones I got from banggood for example, well apart from the price, less than a tenner get's you a box compared to £3 something for one.

If the price difference is just down to running a business in the UK/next day delivery etc I can understand,.....just saying that if you ain't in any hurry, waiting for the same thing to come direct from China maybe an option to consider.

Thats the problem though. I was in no hurry. Ordered from China as local suppliers 25 miles away was 6.95 per insert. BUT when it came (my own fault) I did not check they fit the holder. SO I now have to wait for god klnows how long because of their mistake. I would prefer a sensible local price.

In fact they started to do it and have a UK storage and EU storage BUT not many consumables (which is what you need) are in the UK. Which really defeats the object.

I might start using them if they really are produced in sheffield. BUT prices are not going to be low enough for many. However I find the postage better than a large number of outlets and that could entice there more often. Not sure if the basket price includes VAT . I am guessing that is still to be added!
