Mine has a proper vice instead of , that big handle just pushes a block to clamp the part being bent

Sorry to drag this off course a little but is the square block spun for different thicknesses? I am guessing thats the case. The only ones I have seen have the vice.

Yes.
The hole is off centre so you have 4 different thickness options from the one block.

Easy if the OP has a lathe and a 4 jaw chuck but I guess a pillar drill will do to make something that works
