Parkside performance cordless 20v grinder?

Useful or not? Have mains tools for heavy work but with 2x4ah batteries does this fill a gap for occasional use cutting panels etc?

I get about 1 minutes use per a/h from my grinder.
So for short occasional jobs, very handy.

I don't think lidl do any high capacity battries so (unless you are already using them) I'd look elsewhere as the lack of run time will soon get frustrating

Saves changing disks and gives you lots of battries

I've had one of the green ones in almost daily use for the last ~9 months. It's been really handy, and I've used it far more than I thought I would. Battery lasts well when cutting, but something like a wire brush or flap wheel exhausts a 4AH battery quite quickly, but not so quickly as to be annoying (IME).

Gearbox is getting a bit clattery now, so I'm not sure how much longer it has on this earth.

good grinders let down big time by battery power...my dewalt lasts 5 times longer iff not more...for the price there ok for a few cuts or a rub with a flap wheel.

I bought an Erbauer one perhaps 3 years or so ago that's a middle ground & works decently well.
I tend to use it more for slitting / cutting though - for flap discs & heavier stuff I do have a 5" Parkside corded and a Makita 4.5 corded. (No doubting which is the best quality)

I bought the Aldi 40v brushed grinders and batteries for a job a few years back.

Still going strong, amazing really (think the bare body grinders were £20 a piece!).

Very handy to have a cordless angle grinder around.

Milwaukee m18 all the way. I had a parkside performance 9 inch grinder with 2x 8ah performance batteries. I did not find it as powerful as my 9 inch milwaukee with a single battery.

So we're agreed on the fact that a Named battery (say 5ah from Makita/DeWalt/Milwaukee) gives best bang for the buck?..... I was already suspecting that the bare grinder itself was not so critical and that the battery can be the weakest link...

This is true.
You could have 4 Grinders, 4 Chargers, and 32a/h worth of battery for about the same price as single 8ah battery from one of the big brands...

A cordless grinder is definitely a GOOD THING to have. I have the Parkside - normal, not Performance, and a fake Milwaukee.
I would recommend:
- buy whatever make you already have batteries & charger
- brushless
- variable speed with a fully-variable dial

I have one of the parkside performance grinders in the link.

Decent grinder with plenty of power. As good as my Fakita one and it is just as good as a genuine Makita.

Many times better than the green brushed parkside grinder which is gutless and easily stalled no matter what battery you fit.

But as said already any cordless grinder is only as good as what battery you use and they eat batteries for fun.

Waste of time using 2Ah batteries, 4Ah or above needed.
The 4Ah parkside batteries are quite good, just as good as a genuine Makita 4Ah.
I bought 2 of the 8Ah parkside smart batteries but not tried them out yet.

I find them really handy for a quick job in a remote location, for any heavy work I would use a 240v one.

I have a corded Katsu 3" mini grinder and it's been a great little tool. I thought it'd die quickly, but let it spin & keep pressure light - let the disc do the work, and it's kept gamely plugging away.

I have only Fakita batts as I have smaller and larger Fakita Ugga-Dugga's which came with them, plus a Fakita Recip/Sabre Saw and a handy Fakita worklight....
.... so I'd happily take a punt on the Katsu if I didn't have the Erbauer already

I have the same Katsu mini grinder. Cordless would be better still of course but for what I paid - £25 with 4 discs - it's a great tool.

I'm tempted by the Katsu 6 speed @ £32 Inc their own 4ah battery and charger......I'm not expecting a lot from this but with battery included I can test out of the box and if it fails it can go straight back....we will see...

For the price they are great, I can't justify the price of the red/yellow brands
I find the aldi one not great using a cutting disc though, maybe that's just me
