I did actually pay to park in the car park lol, just not in a marked parking bay as there was none left.

Sorry, you didn’t say you had paid, so it is an offence of not parking in a marked bay.

Or, one could argue it is a deterrent. If nobody got penalised for breaking the parking rules it would be chaos, as we’ve all seen the clowns who basically abandon their car, rather than carefully position it to make life easier for all the other people who use the car park.

Indeed. The co op car park I mentioned earlier actually has two hours free parking then it’s a charge after that - this is to deter tourists parking there all day which meant residents couldn’t get to the shops.

The co op pays the private parking company and that’s how that second company makes their money. All seems perfectly reasonable to me, yet people still argue about it on the local Facebook page.

A local place was well known as a meeting place for street racing so would get lots of cars parked there in the evening to watch the idiots race up and down the bypass, now the maximum stay is 10 minutes after 8:30pm
