Found this dumped in our stand alone mail box .... 250 ml of paint this is the second delivery , the first was sent back to the company by the carrier as damaged & leaking .

This delivery was made by DHL

Not being funny,but if the seller had packaged that properly that it was in a box with no air gap at the top,that wouldn’t have happened,would it? All fine and well blaming the couriers but really, if you say this is the second one, surely the seller should wake up and package it more securely?

I actually got a package the other day where they had thought about it - usually stuff palced in boxed, then protective stuff (not sure crumpled paper is "protective" place on top and it taped up - so no protection on the bottom. This package actually had stuff under, and all around - and arrived undamaged inside the usual slightly battered box - ie all the packaging did its job top protect the contents.

One company I buy paint from do a good job on packing. The tin lid has metal clips, lid is sealed with cross weave tape and the tin sealed in a plastic bag.

Reminds me of a delivery of 2 cans of paint a few years ago. Well packaged, marked "this way up" all was fine till neighbour took the parcel in - as I was at work - and stood it on it's end. Needless to say paint leaked.

agreed entirely, had the same issue twice fairly recently, simply sticking it in a bigger box isn't propêr packaging, especially if it's got any weight to it. Agreed, I'd be the first to criticise them, and you can't always defend the couriers either, but sending it like that you know how it's going to arrive, won't be the fault of the drivers, the senders have responsibility too.

My thoughts entirely as well as the handling aspect.
Inside... the paint tin was in a knotted poly bag , around the bag was some crinkle cut thin carboard but not enough to stuff the carton fully .
I sent the pictures to the supplier , " We will advise our packing dept accordingly " was their reply .

Three weeks earlier I had two incorrect delivery's from the same company ... 5 mtrs of foam for a 5 mtr plastic finishing strip ..that arrived safely . Then when they sent the correct finishing strip they sent me 100 mtrs in a massive box as two 50 mtr rolls, each in their own bag. The box they came in was way way too big some 2x2x2 foot , was well knocked about as they'd only put in a sheet of brown paper for packing out the 9.5 kg contents . Taping up the box with 40 mm wide clear sellotape which had ripped free of the carboard in many places.


I often wonder how they manage to continue trading .

I've taken a leaf out of robin renzettis book and started glue gunning all parcels

I've sent dozens of heavy glass Weck preserving jars plus the glass lids in boxes of four jars all over the UK not one has been damaged.
There is always two bottom sheets of double wall carboard inside on the bottom ... the corrugations running at 90 % to the one below , each jar has a divided hole to sit in that will also take the well packed glass lids on the inner walls .

The outer walls also have two double thicknesses added , any gaps round the sides of the jars get a triangle of thick folded double wall carboard cut to size & pushed down the sides then I put two more thick sheets of corrugated card over the tops of the jars and fold over the box flaps to tape them down with a super strong cotton based tape .over all seams & edges . I've only just started using the hotmelt glue gun , still like to do a run of wide super sticky tape along the long flap seams though .

OK it costs me say £1.50 to pack like this but it's cheaper than having to lose things because they get broken and having to refund money or find replacements.

had 2 50 gallon drums delivered by mistake by hermes got more chance of talking to the queen than getting a person to talk to on the phone about it. automated answer . and get nowhere putting the codes in no sender address on them neither

No worse than the tubes sent to me a while back, the whole lot were bundled together and wrapped in one layer of cardboard
