Thanks, I use a bin type incinerator, it does a job but been thinking of getting an oil drum, the rocket stove look great plus the fact it has no bottom so can kick it over once cool and spread the ashes.

But I also like your propane bottle on its stand and it will be heavier.

Come rain or shine my property catches the wind, ( even on a windless day ),I've even had the bin blow over once while on the go.

theres very little ash when done burning, a shovel load to get rid of when done

so dont need to kick it over

Drum Incinerator

Let's face it this hardly deserves to be a "project" but why not? :) I was thinking to cut the top and bottom out to use as "fire decks". Would probably bend with the heat but I could put studding across instead of support bolts. What do we think?

for the 19kg bottle i also stand it on bricks to give more height though its just as easy to weld on some legs but i havent bothered as of yet as they can be welded to the ring at the bottom of the bottle

ive had mine glowing with red hot ashes on the floor and just cross the woods whilst placing them in the barrel

the 19kg doesnt like the connifers being burnt in it so does smoke a bit but once low enough and those leaves catch fire it flares rather well

the pics are shown whilst burning wood but with junk mail it burns as high as whats shown but does smoke a little when loading another bag onto it but not for long

The drum of a scrap washing machine makes a great incinerator. All the holes in the sides lets in lots of air so you get a good burn.

I eventually ended up making a rather bigger bonfire one evening, and that finally did the trick…..little bits of glowing red paper floating all around the neighbourhood, good job it was dark.

That wasn't in California, was it?

I use this fellowes unit model w-4 got it from an auction for £5 has cut everything I’ve thrown at it including some single wall cardboard boxes. Pretty compact sits under a desk nicely. This has probably been superseded by another model now but I’d look at other fellowes units for sure.

I tried water years ago, a 8” stack of old bills and paperworks I’d collected over the years, so I dumped them into a tub of water to let them turn into mush,…. except they didn’t, they stayed as perfectly legible sheets of paper.

So I took them out and drained them, thought I’d burn them in a small bonfire. Except they don’t want to burn, unless screwed up in a ball several sheets at a time.

I read a great book about the master forger Charles Black.
He perfected forging $ bills. The US were terrified as they were so good nobody could tell them apart.
When they were doing test runs they had loads of imperfect ones printed on just 1 side. They had a big bonfire in their garden. They were horrified to nice the ash raining down was black but still showed clearly as a dollar bill. They were scared that the neighbours would spot them - but luckily it rained

That was the first shredder I had so many years ago and it was brilliant, shredded anything thrown in it and had the reverse feature.

Didn't have any safe sensor technology many shredders have nowadays which can slow things down, just a bog standard cross cut shredder that sat and did its job.

Not made for some time now, get hold of a used one, they are worth a buy.

I think I still have mine somewhere.
