panel stiffner

Guess this is the best section for this Q. Does anyone know what the car panel stiffener stuff is called that would be stuck to the inside, largeish areas of say a wing. (1960's Ford for example) Looks like an old flooring vinyl tile. Mastic type material maybe?

Anti drum pads, I sometimes use it inside machine guards to reduce vibration / drumming.

It's more the stiffness rather than the sound deadning.

Depending on which grade you choose t can be quite a bit stiffer than normal vibro pads most body shops sell.

If originality isn't important, glassfibre would be a good choice for stiffening.

Silentcoat is better than dynamat imo, various thicknesses including a multilayer version that adds a good amount of stiffness to whatever it's stuck to

sounds like a old sound deadening pad ...modern high tech ones stay soft , but old /cheap stuff will go rock hard like what you have
