i'm refurbing a trailer chassis on my front lawn.
its at least 20 or 30 years old, and ungalvanised.
i've cleaned all the loose rust and old paint off, but it's not sparkly clean - and never will be as i cant get it acid dipped or blasted in the immediate future.
i'd like to prime/undercoat with a high zinc (xylene) based primer, then a topcoat of colour.
both applied by brush or roller. (maybe by spray if i can work out a way of making a "booth" on the front lawn, without having to spend a fortune).
is there a type of paint which will go on rusty(ish) metal and "convert" it effectively?
or can someone recommend me a "rust convertor" - i'm looking at "aquasteel" off amazon, at 20 quid a litre at the moment.
i don't want to spend 4 weeks building the rest of the trailer and find that rust has started to bleed through.
or am i better off spending 50 or 60 quid on a gallon of phosphoric acid and painting that on?
