Painting kitchen cabnets!

Hey guys!

Need some expert advice on painting kitchen cabnets. I have light coloured wood kitchen units (not solid wood), and would like to paint them to a high shine if possible!

What would be the best solution to do this? Enamel, 2k car paint, base and clear? or just plain old gloss!

I'll be using an airless spray system (earlex 5500).

I have a feeling Langy will be on here soon to offer some good advice - he has painted his kitchen cabinet doors, and they look brilliant!

For something that will see a lot of wear and tear I would say 2k direct gloss, with a 2k high build primer and a lot of flatting to get a good base.

A friend of mine that usually paints cars also paints a lot of door fronts for a kitchen company and all in 2K.

thanks for the quick reply! i was edging towards 2k iso free paint but wasn't sure what undercoat to use? something to grip onto the keyed wood! i'll see what Langy did if he pops in!

How do the cabnet makers get that real shiny plastic look ive seen places?

Iso free 2k, you might as well use cellulose as the 2k with Unibinder is no harder wearing and costs a lot more.
