Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding painting my Land Rover 90 with nato green. I've never sprayed before (other than rattle cans) but thought I would have a crack at it so have bought one of those cheap 25l compressors from Lidl. I've read up on the internet and watched the tutorials on here after which I bought a suction fed spray gun and a moisture trap/regulator (along with filters for the gun and plenty of thinners to clean it after)
The vehicle is already painted in nato green, albeit with a brush so i've sanded it down well and etch primed where I've hit alloy.
I know the compressor is a little on the small side, so there will be lots of waiting for it to fill up, but the vehicle is dragged around trees every weekend so a showroom finish isn't important. I thought I would use this as a practise before I went anywhere near smarter vehicles
Someone on a landy forum suggested winding the pressure down to 40psi to help the compressor out a little, but does anyone have any other tips on the set-up or application?
Now for a very stupid question, if I set the regulator at 40psi, then squeeze the trigger, the pressure gauge drops to about half. Does this mean I'm effectively spraying at 20 psi or should it do that?
Thanks in advance,
Harry
edit: sorry if this is in the wrong forum, mods please move if it is!
