Can you still get it? The original was good but HSE put pay to it. I've heard of aircraft grade but I've not actually seen any in the flesh.

TCE/Perk is still available for use under license for tasks where it can't be replaced, but it's increasingly restricted.

If the paint *Has* to be stripped, and it *Has* to be done chemically, and *Only* Perk will do, then it will be a case of going to someone with the licence (like Air Livery, or SPL) to do it as a subcon job.

At that point, I think dry-ice blasting would probably be a more economic process though.

Dry ice. There's a thing. I don't know the rivet size. I've not cut one out yet. We've had it for some time and replaced the chassis and rebuilt running gear engine, trans so now it's time to start planning the panelwork.

I have seen it used very successfully to remove bitumen (from the days when people still bedded segmental metal tanks into a layer of molten tar), and chemically resistant epoxy coatings with almost no impact on the surface underneath, very impressive results with way less mess than wet-blasting.

If you have a reasonably local provider, I would certainly consider getting a quote and comparing it to the time you'd spend doing the same job.

Karcher also offer Ice-Blasting units for short term hire now, if you'd rather keep it in house... Which does strike me as a solution that where having that additional capability available could prove useful with more clients in the future.

We have used crushed walnut shells on light alloy as well as soda.
Soda does leave a film that wants to be washed off though then Anodyne treated. Worth the extra work, and not crazy money.

I would think a series one is likely to have whatever rivets they had left over in bulk, later series and certainly defender use non A/C rivet profiles. I can have a look through my books and see if I can match the type, but getting hold of them might be the issue

That was another option. There's a lot of panelwork on a landy and in this case a lot of paint. I'm too old to be flatting it all back to sound substrate.

I've had a few beetles dipped by envirostrip now and the dipping removes everything.

Not cheap though but worth it.

i wouldnt be blasting any pannel no matter what been there done it and got the teeshirt. not even with kiln dried sand at a lowish pressure distorts them

Iv'e painted loads over the years.
Never used paint stripper, I just rub down existing paint until it's smooth, using a DA.

Well. Having tried various sources and avenues. Looks like we will have to take landy to a specialist dipper in Nottingham. Local dippers wouldn't touch it being aluminium. Apparently endorsed and used by Fuzz

I have been presented with a Scimitar with a gutter which is anodised aluminium, coated one end in thick epoxy primer. I am not aware of anything that can remove it with destroying the underlying finish?

A typical example of a product that is so good at its job, its an issue. I have no suggestions short of immersion in gun wash.

I was under the impression that methylene chloride paint stripper would remove epoxy primer - is that not the case then?
