Hello!
I paint the floor of my van inside with a direct to rust paint (similar to hamerite but a cheaper brand). Just one coat.
But after few days I notice some spots not painted so in some parts I put zinc spray over the direct to rust paint because was the same color and was the only paint can I had at the moment.
There was no visible reaction and the paint looks good.
The problem is its been 3 weeks since the last spray and the van still smells. Is it normal? Or because I mix the 2 diferent paints there will be smell like this for long time? This is my big question here. It is ok to paint zinc spray over the rust paint???
I notice the smell its a little less intense the last days but still get a hedache everytime I enter in the van
Its very hot here I guess that make things worst and other thing is that I can't leave the van open for long periods of time because It's parked o the street. But since I paint I can tell it was all open at least for 7 hours...
I want to build a campervan so I cant stay there with this smell
I don't know if I cover the painted area with a good vapor barrier will solve it?
Other solution I was thinking is to remove all the paint with strong paint remover and then paint again with some other paint but with low VOCs...
I really don't know what to do, do you guys have any advice?
Thank you very much!!
