Paint reaction (what is it)

Hi need some help.
am spraying a bootlid with 2k paint.
Ive primed it with 2k HS!
and sprayed 2k paint (mica paint) then got some reaction this morning!
So i rubed it down again went through to primer then did a quick spray with a can primer!
re-applied the 2k paint and it happened again!

Its like a spider/marble/crack effect. looks like when paint apply a heat gun to paint when it peels of!


Ive taken pictures of the phone so not the best quality!

Its driving me crazy now!

That'll be crazing. It's commonly due to overcoating single pack synthetic (acrylic) paints with just about anything else, or overcoating cellulose with a thickish coat of synthetic. Primers are often insensitive, but the colour coat brings the problem out. What's underneath the primer?

the original paint.
I did remove the laquer by wet sanding 600/400 but it had loads of chips so I primered it using 2k HS!

may i add this only happen after Ive done several final wet coat!

looks to me as it has reacted to the original paint underneath to cure it you will have to flat it off again with wet n dry to a smooth finish go to the paint shop and buy a tin of bar coat isolater spray it straight out of the can do not thin it wait an hour for it to cure do not sand or flat it prime straight on top of it you can then flat the primer but dont rub through then apply your top coat problem solved

The mica & primer's definitely 2k, uses a hardener? Does look just like 1k reaction, wet coat waking up the oner underneath.

it coulds well be as simple as you left to long for flash off times.
you have got a spec sheet i trust.
and primer topcoat are the same brand.
also sounds like you putting alot of paint on there.
i think thats what is happening,chipper.

it is the same brand all the way. (lechler)
well i apply a very light coat like a dust coat!
I do several of them then just two heavy coat!

Well going to give it another go with the barcoat!
otherwise going back to metal then re-start!

Its funny you say tooo much layers...I had the same problem with the bumper so i rubbed it down then re-applied the paint slower and no reaction!
well Ill let you know how i get you on!

It looks like Hammerite to me How far away are you holding the gun ? It looks like it's drying before it gets to the metal.

am holding the gun just further than me hands width!

right got the problem sorted yesterday! used the bar coat and it did come through just a tiny bit ill take pictures tonight after i've polished it and you can see for yourself!
