I am looking for some advice on the best way to safeguard my car for many years to come. It is a Porsche 944 that is undergoing a restoration of sorts, I have already posted some pictures in a thread in the projects section of some patching and welding I have done on one of the wings (other one next). I would like to know what to do what is the best paint process to follow, to preserve the bare metal for now but ultimately for it to get a bare metal respray. I know someone who could trailer my car to a paint shop about two hours away but I want to do all of the prep up to it going away for the final spray. The engine and running gear will be coming off and I want to remove and replace the under-seal also, although I know this will be a task and a half
So to recap, how do i best preserve my reworked bits for now and what is the best methods and materials to take it back to the metal and then to fully undersealed and primed ready for painting.
I have a decent compressor and a few air tools and the car is in a garage where I have plenty of room to move all around it. I quite fancy one of those rollover jigs if they are as good as they are cracked up to be.
I know it is a meaty question but any help would be much appreciated.
